Artful Days August Kit Hello Sunshine Mixed Media Canvas

Hi all

I am back from my week holiday to Great Yarmouth which went way too fast but you know what they say when you are having fun. The weather was warm and sunny until the last day so its been a fab break and now i need to work off all that ice cream. Anyway I bought my first Artful Days Theme box last month but i have only just found time to sit down and make something with it. My Father in law was taken ill at the end of August so i have fell behind a bit but i have some of my October makes ready.

Here is a reveal video of the August box which i threw together and here is a link to the website http://www.artfuldays.co.uk/ The October Goodie Box is Steampunk so guess what i will be making next.

I made a mini canvas using the kit

I first covered the canvas with gesso and let it dry before adding textures to it using stencils. I then painted it with DecoArt Crafters Acrylic and used texture stamps over the top.

I used the MDF sentiment as the focus for the canvas which i painted with dark blue paint first before adding weathered Wood Crackle Medium and then a layer of White crackle pain. Leave each layer to dry completely before adding the next layer. I finished off the letters using Patina Antiquating cream and glued sequins around the letters.

I added Sequins, gems and shells around the canvas. I love the little starfish cabs which glimmer in the light.

The kit comes with a lot of embellishments and papers so you have plenty to play with.

Susan K Weckesser Creative Team: Owl Friendship Card Using Gone Wild Stamp Set

Hi all

The theme on the blog is cards, all sorts of cards. I would love to see what you create using this months theme so please tag me on Facebook @https://www.facebook.com/Lifeinasnapshot2013/#
I used the Gone Wild and Fly Away  stamp sets to make this card.

I started off with a blank card and used Color Pop Mini inks to paint a sky and the grass onto the background. I started with the Sky colored ink and blended it down the card before mixing it with Ice.

I colored the Owl with First Edition Alcohol markers and cut it out.

I made the clouds using the Fly Away stamp set and colored them in using the Sky Color Pop Mini ink. I kept the ink darker around the edge of the stamp and blended it towards the middle to get a textured effect.

I stamped a few tiny flowers on the grass to complete the card.

Thank you for visiting.

Trimcraft Christmas Dovecraft Essentials Advent Calender

Hi all

I am back with my first Christmas project of the year. Yep it's that time again when all the Christmas stuff comes out before Summer ends. I wanted something i could keep and reuse this time so the advent calendar came to mind.

I simply cut  the stars out of red felt using a star shaped nesting die and hand stitched them together leaving a pocket at the top so i can put things inside.

I used black craft foam and the First Edition Numbers die set to add the date on. I used red ribbon i had in my stash which i needed to start using up instead of hording.

Craft Consortium Gypsy Gypsy Vintage Flower Card

Hi all

I have a vintage style card to share using the lovely Gypsy Gypsy paper pad from Craft Consortium.

I started off by covering a 6 x 6 card blank with the dusky pink patterned paper. Which has a lovely pearly shine to it. I then cut a large strip from the brown stripe paper and adhered it to the center of the card. I added another smaller rectangle across the card before moving onto the topper.

For the topper i cut out the floral toppers that came with the pad and mounted them onto patterned paper and trimmed to fit. I then glued a length of lace along the bottom and added a gem to finish before adding it all to the card centre.

I finished the card of by adding a cluster of paper flowers and buttons.

Susan K Weckesser Creative Team: Rainbows, Unicorns and Colours

                                                                           Hi all

I can't believe how fast this year is going and we are into Autumn already.
I have a super bright card to share made using DecoArt Fluid Acrylics and the Susan K Weckesser Unity Co Branded Unicorns & Rainbows stamp set.

For the background i used the In Circle Me background stamp and then used DecoArt Fluid Acrylics to paint around the circles in bright magenta. I then colored the circles in with different fluid acrylics.

I colored the unicorn in with First Edition markers but it blended into the background so i added a bit of DecoArt Crackle Paint and some pink net to add texture.

I love this sentiment which is part of the Unicorns & Rainbows Stamp Set

Ike's Art Design Team Call

Hi all

I had retired from digi teams but i had difficulty saying no to Ike's Art who has always been one of my favorites. Not that i am creeping or anything ok maybe a little bit.

So let me introduce myself
My name is Katie and i am based in the UK. I have 3 cats who seem to be more destructive then a small child and one of them drinks tea. I work in a bookies so nothing can shock me anymore. I am a Sci Fi fan so that has a bit of an influence on my darker side especially the Aliens franchise and Blade Runner.

I have been crafting for over 10 years but i am fairly new to the digital side of crafting. I have worked with a few dark themed challenge teams before including Delicious Doodles. I am a mixed media artist who likes to add a dark twist to things and i have no idea where that come from as i am a bit of a wimp when watching horror movies. I am curious  by the weird and unexplained so that might be it.

PaperCrafter Issue 98 Free Papers Projects

                                                                   Hi all

I was given a set of the free papers from PaperCrafter Magazine issue 98. I was asked to make up a few projects using them so here they are.

I am proud of this one as it got me in the cover of issue 98.  The Dovecraft Back to Basics Bright Spark embellishments worked well with the bright patterns.

Here are my other cards i made

I really love the bright patterns on this paper set

I made a bunting using the Open Butterflies from Things to Alter and drew around a blank one onto the paper before gluing it to the back of the MDF shapes

I also made a 8 x 8 scrapbook layout using some MDF shapes and the lovely bright papers. The picture was taken in Torquay.

I used DecoArt Crafters Acrylic to paint the shapes as i love the variety of colors they do
